Lectio Divina is the Christian meditation practice of focusing on the meaning behind the individual words of scripture or historical church prayers. This came to me while thinking of the prayer “May the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Love of God the father, and the Fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us this day and remain with us always”:
First, I always put the father first. To me, it is always ‘Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.’
May the Love of God the Father be our super power: how we overcome adversity.
May the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be our safety mechanism: our protection from threats internal and external.
May the Fellowship of the Holy Spirit be our wisdom: lighting up our minds, our hearts, and our spirits.
In all things the Love of God, in all things the Grace of God, in all things the fellowship of God.
May the Love of God the Father be our strength: the force that drives us on.
May the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be our shield and armor: defending us from the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.
May the Fellowship of the Holy Spirit be our wings: raising us up that we might soar.
The Love of God in all things, the Grace of God in all things, the Fellowship of God in all things.
May the Love of God the Father be our fuel: that which we consume.
May the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be our sure defense: our strategy and our game-plan; Our secret weapon and our guarantee; Our strong rock and our castle to keep us safe.
May the Fellowship of the Holy Spirit be our companion to carry us through the day: picking us up when we are down and carrying us through the hard times and the good.
May the Love of God, the Grace of God, and the Fellowship of Goldberg With us this night and remain with us always.
