to deconstruct this: I was laid off from my job working for a giant, faceless company in the American oil and gas industry. Many people demonize this industry, though I am certainly not one of those who do. (I would have had trouble working on oil and gas rigs for five years if I didn't approve). It changed my life losing this job, but, in the words of Darth Vader, (they are) "altering the deal".
